New Zealand made DuraVision™ Childcare Safety Mirrors with 5 Year Warranty.
To calculate viewing distance, measure the distance from the viewer to the mirror, then add the distance from the mirror to the area you want to see. First, measure from the area you are viewing, to where the mirror will be positioned. Next, measure from the mirror position to the area you wish to view. Add these two measurements together to calculate the optimal viewing distance.
The optimal mirror size depends on your viewing distance, the amount of detail you want to see, the viewing angle required and for driveways, the speed of approaching traffic . Use your calculated viewing distance to pick a base size, then adjust for traffic speed and other details, using this guide:
For Monitoring Children:
For Traffic Speed:
For standard blind corners, a round mirror works best. If you need a 180-degree view to see both left and right, use a Two-Way Half Dome mirror. If the viewing distance in both directions is more than 12 metres, installing two standard round mirrors angled in each direction is the best option.
DuraVision mirrors are sold complete with adjustable wall-mounting J-Brackets or pole-clamp brackets, depending on the model. Specific installation guides can be found in the Specification tab on our product pages. Standard inclusions are:
Note: Wall-mounting screws/bolts are not supplied. You can purchase 60mm U-bolts or 75mm U-bolts separately to mount J-bracket mirrors to a pole, or a Wall Adaptor to mount pole-clamp mirrors to a wall.
The best material depends on your environment: Acrylic is ideal for cost-effective general use, Stainless Steel is virtually unbreakable for vandal-prone or coastal areas, and Glass is obsolete due to safety hazards.
